The KHD mission

Why I want you to beat me.

I am not afraid to lose to a girl. I am counting on it.

Read why
Proof, not a promise She learned it. She used it. I tapped.
Why I step on the mat

I want you to learn to kick ass, take control, and have fun doing it.

Every class, I put on the pads and play the bad guy. I may be bigger than you. I may be stronger than you. The person who comes after you someday may be, too—and that may be exactly why he chooses you.

But size does not decide every exchange. You can learn to use speed, leverage, commitment, your voice and targets an attacker cannot easily protect. You have read the name of this company. It is funny. It is also lesson one.

We do not train for trophies. We train for the moment someone throws fairness out the window. He may be expecting a victim. I want you to become a very unpleasant surprise.

Confidence you earned

Do not take my word for it.

Confidence somebody talked you into can disappear under adrenaline. Confidence you pressure-tested is different.

01

Learn it.

Understand the position, the target and the purpose before speed enters the room.

02

Practice it.

Try it slowly, make mistakes, laugh, adjust and build a movement you can actually remember.

03

Pressure-test it.

Use the skill against resistance until confidence is based on something you have already done.

The whole point

You are not leaving here believing you can take down a grown man.

You are leaving having done it.

Taking someone down is not the finish line. It is the opening: create space, get to your feet and get out. The goal is not to prove you can stay in a fight. The goal is to know you have options when leaving is not immediately possible.

When you put me on the ground, I do not feel beaten. I feel like a good coach.
I feel like I did my job

When a student puts me in a hold or takes me down, I don’t feel like I lost.

She has proven that she can stay composed, take control and respond when a situation gets difficult.

I did my job. Book a class
Fight like a girl. Girls fight to win.
